More than an ordinary class.

When I compare this class to any others, it's obviously different than many other courses we've taken.  And I'm not merely talking about the fact that weget to play video games.  No - the social aspects this class has afforded me (among others) the chance to build stronger friendships that otherwise been only to the extent ofmeeting in class every Wednesday.   I've visited the Second Skin viewing hosted by Andrew, Megan, and Billy where others shpwed up as well. I've gone on the D.C. trip which is no doubt going to be a fond memory, having the chance to spend the day with most of my classmates.  Furthermore, I've attended a WoW party put on by Bethany where we all had a lot of fun interacting in the real world while simultaneously being in the virtual world.  And lastly, the 300 viewing Teang and Heather orchestrated has brought a lot of us together in a social setting outside of class that likely wouldn't have been done otherwise.  That characteristic of the class I am thankful for having available to us.

  1. I completely agree! I believe this is one reason I love this class. Games are about being social and playing together. I attended all of the events you mentioned above. I loved looking on our class facebook and seeing new events. I wish I could have attended them all!

Has your view of the class changed at all? At first, I viewed us as students interested in a common subject, but as we continued to expand into graphic and gaming world it changed. We learn how to interact with each other in the class through game scenarios and we grow together through the instruction we absorbed. We are part of a team, not just a class. Gaming together has extremely benefited our communication to one another as well. I recall talking about WoW in front of the library for like half an hour one day. It was not a planned meeting, but our conversation continued until we had to leave for a meeting. We do not view our classmates differently because they are a Computer Science Major, Art Major, Psychology Major, or English Major... and I like that. This connectedness may be why our class is able to host viewing parties. We have created something together :)
